Bill Dingus
1938-2004


William Bill Morris Dingus, 66, a self-employed contractor with Fed-Ex Ground, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at a local hospital. Born April 4, 1938 in Jonesboro, Tennessee, he was the son of Ralph A. Dingus and Gladys Morris Dingus. He served in the US Army. Bill played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid sportsman throughout his life. He especially enjoyed playing golf and following baseball. In 1985 he met Carol and moved to Charleston. They were married November 26, 1993. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Carol; son William T. Dingus, Salem, VA; two step-daughters: Tajuana Devine Brown, Powder Springs, GA, and Lashawn Devine, Charleston, SC; two sisters: Dorothy Dingus, Ellicott City, MD, and Lettie Weight, Harrisburg, PA; and two grandchildren who he adored: Daniel Christopher Brown and Kynnedy Elise Dennis. His brother, Ralph Dingus, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, May 27, 2004 in the chapel of MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 150 Wentworth St., Charleston. Interment with military honors will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Hwy 61, Charleston. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 11AM-6PM.
